Giving Your Borders a Shaded Effect
FrontPage makes it very simple for you to create the
shaded effect on your borders. It is a matter of manipulating your border
colors, border width, cellpadding and cellspacing. I will show the steps
used to create this
Shaded Border page.
-
Create
a new blank page
-
Click
Insert then Background and the window shown on your right will appear.
You can choose to add a background picture, choose background color or
get a background from another page you have in your web. I have chosen
Background Color (see the red 1)
-
This will provide your page with a universal
background color as long as the tables you put in next are left without
a background color or graphic.
-
Click OK once you have chosen your color or graphic
and your page will now hold your background.
-
You
now want to create your first table, click on Table and then Insert and
the window as shown at the right will appear.
-
Under Size, change your Rows and Columns both to 1
-
Under Layout, change Alignment to Center
-
Make sure Specify Width is checked and it says 100
and In percent is chosen.
-
The Border Size I chose for my all of my tables
was 5
-
The Cell padding was set up as below
- Table 1 - 30
- Table 2 - 20
- Table 3 - 10
- Table 4 - 15
- The Cell spacing I chose for all the tables
was 1
- Once you have your preferences set click OK and
your table is created.
- Most likely your table will hold a black border,
this is what you are going to work on next.
-
Right
click inside your table and choose Table Properites. You will see the
Table Properties window pop up as shown in the graphic to your right.
- Your Layout should already be set up, just look
at all the options and be sure they are as you set them up when you
created your table.
- Under Borders the size should already be set up,
and you can alter it if you choose.
- Don't worry about the Color option you are going
to choose a Light Border and a Dark Border instead. Click on the arrows
beside each and choose your light and dark border colors.
- When you are done click OK and your border for
your first table will be altered from it's original form.
- Within your new table you want to create another
table, following steps 5 to 18 will create your next table and repeat
until you have all your tables created.
- Finally, add your graphics and text to your page
and you are finished. Save your page.
You may want to play with the settings for the
border colors and cell padding, cell spacing, border size to see the
different effects you can create with them.
